Amazing steampunk invention

This thing, Daddy Longlegs, is probably the coolest historical item I've heard of in a year or more. It's a pier that walks on stilts from one place to another at 2mph. It ran from 1896 to 1901. It's the kind of thing I'm amazed was ever created (and worked!) and even more amazed that anyone let it close. I mean, this is an incredible tourist attraction. I wonder what it sounded like?
